Eight Reasons I Use Squarespace Enterprise

I’ve been building Squarespace websites for over five years, and nothing has changed the game for me and my clients quite like Squarespace Enterprise.

At my company, by Crawford, we’ve built over 450 Squarespace websites for a range of clients, from nonprofits to corporate giants. While a standard Squarespace plan offers so much, before Squarespace Enterprise, clients operating at scale sometimes asked for features I couldn’t quite deliver with a lower-tier Squarespace plan alone.

That’s where Squarespace Enterprise came in.

Enterprise offered my company the opportunity to offer increased scalability, additional functionality, and overall improved design solutions to businesses that need it. Here are eight reasons I use Squarespace Enterprise—and why I’ll never look back.

1. Discounted hosting fees

One of Squarespace Enterprise’s biggest perks is the highly discounted hosting fees that I’m able to offer my clients. This is great for them, especially if they want to keep costs down, and it helps me stand out from the competition. After all, if a client is choosing between two designers, the cheaper hosting fees could sway them in my favor.

2. Direct support from an account manager

A dedicated account manager offering a direct line to Squarespace is a game-changer. It’s like having an extra person on your team without the costs of hiring someone or dealing with the admin and resources required to manage a new role.

My Squarespace account manager has become a vital team member, and it gives me huge peace of mind to know there’s someone “on the inside” with my goals in mind every step of the way.

Many web design platforms are putting less and less focus on customer service, expecting their users to do everything themselves. Not Squarespace Enterprise. My Squarespace account manager is invaluable, connecting me with the wider Squarespace team, getting me in front of the right eyes when a particular challenge needs solving, and, crucially, providing me new product updates before anyone else. If anything goes wrong, which is rare, my account manager sorts through it promptly. This also means that if I don’t have the answer to a client’s question, my account manager can assist at any time by asking the Squarespace product team directly.

3. Editing at scale with Design Library

Design Library is a newer Enterprise feature that supports teams and businesses managing multiple websites. Among other features, Design Library includes global blocks that enable you to push out copy and code updates to multiple websites from one central location.

Global blocks are helpful for many industries. Imagine you operate a church that publishes a weekly sermon to various websites within your congregation. Before global text blocks, you or a team member had to manually upload those sermons to each site. Now, you can edit the sermon within Design Library, which then updates all other sites at once.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different use cases for global text blocks—and the benefits continue to scale as your organization adds them to more and more websites.

4. Exclusive feature access

Another reason I love Squarespace Enterprise? The features built exclusively with enterprises in mind.

A personal favourite is page drafts. These give my clients the ability to go into their site’s back end and make changes without needing to hit publish, which is ideal during offboarding. They can then make and save changes as a draft, which is perfect if they aren’t ready for the page to go live yet (e.g., for a seasonal sale) or if the content needs approval first.

The feature enables multiple people of different expertise levels to collaborate on a project without worrying about making a permanent mistake. It’s great for organizations with multiple levels of approval, as it streamlines sending project changes up the chain of command.

5. A dedicated dashboard

The dedicated dashboard for Enterprise-only websites has been instrumental in aggregating all relevant website information and tracking important metrics in one simple view. This helps me, and it’s also great for site admins. They can change all permissions for their Enterprise site at once, from one central place.

Enterprise customers also have unlimited trial websites with Enterprise that never expire. This means there’s no rush on the design process, empowering you to perfect all details and elements before launching a site.

6. More granular permissions for site contributors

Determining how best to set site edit permissions for contributors is a common challenge for many companies. Do you give everyone full access, or limit what they can do based on their role?

With Squarespace Enterprise, you can get hyper-specific about site access and permissions. From the Enterprise dashboard, you can create unique roles and permissions for every team member. This ensures each can only access what they need, reducing confusion and room for error and saving everyone time, resources, and money in the long run. It’s the specificity in permissions that’s exclusive to Enterprise plans

7. Single sign-on capability for added security

Site security is paramount for my clients, making Enterprise’s single sign-on (SSO) capability critical. With SSO, my clients can create bespoke logins for people they want to give access to, without risking password sharing. Plus, you can apply SSO only where needed, so you can lock specific pages without walling off an entire site.

8. Simplified pricing and billing

I like to keep things as simple as possible for me and my clients. Enterprise pricing plans help me streamline my pricing and billing approaches. Instead of receiving separate bills for every website in your Enterprise dashboard, you get one bill covering all your websites. You also receive added flexibility in the form of bespoke billing options for every customer. Enterprise also consolidates billing, reducing admin time and bumps in the road and making projects run smoother for everyone involved. Whether you want to pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly, Squarespace Enterprise offers a payment solution that’s right for you.

Save time and accomplish more with Squarespace Enterprise

The Squarespace Enterprise plan’s time-saving and productivity-boosting exclusive features have made me a more competitive designer. I’m confident it’ll help me improve my workflows as the Squarespace platform continues to evolve. No matter what kind of clients you have or how many you serve, Enterprise can offer something of value to you.

Streamline your production workflow.
